Back in November I had the privilege to attend the Creative at Heart Conference in Charleston! It was two days full of amazing speakers, encouraging stories and lots of challenges for 2016. This conference isn’t just for photographers it’s for all creatives who have their small business. If you’re a planner, florist, seamstress, etc this is for you! I highly recommend it and loved getting the chance to meet amazing people from all over! I was able to stay in an adorable 2 bedroom house with 5 other ladies who all happen to be photographers as well! That was an experience is one am I most excited about. We spent our first two days together exploring Charleston, taking photos and really getting to know each other. I am so thankful to have met those ladies and happy that we are staying in touch!
During our exploring I decided to only bring my little Canon 35mm film camera, three rolls of Portra 400 and shoot away. I’m excited for how some of the images came out, as I didn’t have a incident light meter just the reflected light meter in my camera. So what I did was photograph in manual and get my settings to zero out. Then I overexposed by 1-2 stops depending on the scene. I had all of my rolls processed and developed at Photovision out of Portland. They are my go-to and do amazing work! Matt and I just went to Charleston this past weekend where I photographed a few more places with film and I’m excited to get those developed!
If you’re interested in ordering any of these prints to hang in your home, you can order prints here: proofing.samanthalaffoon.com/charleston. I’ll be adding more to the gallery soon!
Fist off here’s a group photo from the conference! Seriously, if you have been thinking about going but held off or have never heard of it; GO!
