Day 3 | Day Trip to Florence

Florence was one of my favorite days while in Italy. We made it a day trip with a 2 hour train ride, which was fun and picturesque in and of itself. We started off with a cappuccino and then touring the Galleria dell’Accademia and saw the Statue of David in person. It was so much larger than I realized and very cool to see something I learned about in school, up close in real life.

One of the other main stops on our day in Florence was seeing the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, it was absolutely stunning. I was blown away by the detail and and the grandeur of it all.  We unfortunately didn’t get to tour the inside due to the length of the line and the fact that we were only there for 12 hours, but the outside was enough for me!

Ponte Vecchio is another spot that is a big tourist attraction in Florence. It’s this cool medieval bridge across the Arno River and worth checking out!

We spent the day roaming around the city, eating pizza and shopping for gifts for our families. We toured several piazzas and found some great little shops for Italian leather.

I really enjoyed our day in Florence!
